Short Description   3-D P- and S-velocity models (respectively IBEM-P18 and IBEM-S19) of the crust, upper and uppermost mantle beneath Iberia, Canaries and Western Morocco. Relative arrival-time residuals of teleseismic P, S and SKS phases are used to invert for perturbations in the mantle. The data set used includes travel-times recorded between 2007 and 2013, from 18 seismic experiments (~416 regional stations). The IBEM-P18 and IBEM-S19 models are expressed as the velocity difference in km/s relative to the 1D averaged regional model PRISM3D (0-660 km depth) and global model LLNL (660-800 km depth).

Data Set Description Broadband teleseismic travel-time data from around 416 seismic stations (18 seismic experiments and permanent networks operating in the time range 2007-2013) are used in this work.

Depth slices through the tomographic models.
Depth slices through the tomographic P- (a-f) and S-wave (g-l) models
between 130 and 730 km (modified from Civiero et al., 2018 and
Civiero et al., 2019). Velocities are plotted relative to a 1D laterally
averaged depth-dependent version of the starting models. Regions
with no piercing points are shaded grey. Black lines show coastlines.
Note in both the models the prominent high-velocity anomaly below
the Alboran Sea surrounded by low-velocity anomalies below Rif and Betics.
