Data Services Products: EMC-SLC-Vs10km-2022 Shear velocity model for Salt Lake Valley, UT, USA

Summary

A shear velocity model for Salt Lake Valley, UT from the Rayleigh wave ellipticity and phase velocity measurement from Mw 6.5 Idaho earthquake 2020 and earthquake coda cross correlations.

Description

Name SLC-Vs10km-2022
Title Shear velocity model for Salt Lake Valley, UT, USA
Type 3-D Tomography Earth Model
Sub Type Absolute Vs (km/s)
Year 2022
Data Revision r0.0 (revision history)

Short Description   Rayleigh wave ellipticity and phase velocity measurement from Mw 6.5 Idaho earthquake 2020 and earthquake coda cross correlations were used to estimate Vs in Salt Lake Valley, Vp and Rho used for Markov chain Monte Carlo inversion were calculated from Vs using empirical relationship from Brocher 2005.

The inverted shear velocity model at 0.5 km depth
Zeng et al., 2022 (a) The inverted shear velocity (Vs) model at 0.5 km depth. Red lines A-A’ and B-B’ show the location of two cross-sections in (b) and©. (b) The inverted Vs model along cross-section A-A’ for depth between 0 to 3 km. Relative elevation is shown on top of the cross-section with same scale as depth. Approximate locations of two opposite dipping antithetic normal faults WVFZ and WSF are identified by gray lines. (c) Same as (b) but for cross-section B-B’. (d)-(f) Same as (a)-(c) but from the CVM.
